David R. Licea, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 12, 2023. Born on January 25, 1952, in Corpus Christi as well, David lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and love.
A man of many talents, David was known for his friendly demeanor, his humor that could light up a room, and his handy skills that could fix just about anything. He was a beacon of positivity and a source of endless entertainment for everyone who knew him. His infectious laughter and his knack for telling jokes calling himself “the general” around his friends and a “man of honor” with his family will be remembered by all.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Maria Licea, and siblings, Beatrice Calvo, Hector Licea, and Enrique(Kike) Licea.
David's love for his family was profound and unwavering. He was the proud father of Crystal Licea, Martha Former, Gabriel Licea, David Licea, Jr., Nancy Licea, Vicky Licea, and Sandra Licea. He was a doting grandfather to his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always ready with a tale or a song to share. David was also a cherished brother to Olga Hinojosa, Bertha Cruz, Irma Licea, Humberto Licea, and Alfredo Licea. His nieces, nephews, and extended family will miss his warmth and wisdom.
David was a man of simple pleasures. He was a painter and a good wood engraver. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing. He was a culinary enthusiast who loved to cook for his family and friends. David also had a beautiful singing voice, often heard serenading his family or crooning along with his favorite tunes. He was a fan of Busch beer and was known to enjoy a cold one while relaxing.
