David Mendez, founder of Divine Mercy productions and life-long resident of Corpus Christi, TX, and proud Foy H. Moody High School graduate, class of 1986, was received by the Lord on November 8, 2020 at the age of 53, after an 18 month battle with cancer. David was a loving father, son, brother, and fiancé. He was so talented and creative in his work; he proved to be an asset to many communities. His passion involved capturing all the special moments and persons of the area through photography and videography. As an avid boxing fan and former fighter, he became a well-known ring announcer in the South Texas area. David was a Golden Gloves member and founder of Coastal Bend Boxing Association, which aimed to promote and celebrate those who take part in the sport. He was also the co-founder of Operation Thanksgiving, which involved serving the homeless at the Mother Teresa Shelter. David was a blessing to many and shall be missed by all whom knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto Mendez.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Ann Mendez; his children, Olivia Mendez, David Matthew Mendez, and Michael Antonio Mendez; his siblings, Mary Jane Balboa, Beatrice (Larry) Fling, Antonio Mendez, Isabel (Mark) Bishop; nieces and nephews, Victoria Marie Tamez, Ally Fling, Lea Fling, and Brandon Fling. His fiancé, Sophie Longoria, and her children, Annisa Longoria and Nicolas Longoria (Randi), and her grandchildren, Emma Rose Longoria and Miles Dean Longoria.
Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
