Elva Armandina Barrera

Elva Armandina Barrera passed away on December 18, 2020 at the age of 68.  She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be truly missed by all whom knew and loved her. She was employed at Barrera’s Fried Chicken (Robstown, TX) where she worked with her dad, Pedro Barrera, in the 1970’s and later went on to work at Dena’s restaurant until 1985. Her last place of employment was at HEB in the Deli Department, where she worked for many years until her retirement.  Elva loved spending time with her family and siblings while cooking a meal or just sitting at the table talking over a cup of coffee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Estella Barrera (Alice, TX); one brother, Pedro C. Barrera (Robstown, TX); and former husband, Gilberto M. Perez.

Elva is survived by her children, Gilbert Perez Jr. (Roxanne) of Beeville, TX and Armandina (Mandy) Perez of Corpus Christi, TX; her grandchildren, Gilbert I. Perez and Valerie A. Raine; her siblings, Estella Delos Santos of Corpus Christi, TX, Elma A. Rodriguez (Manuel) of Alice TX, Pete Barrera Jr. (Eloisa) of Deer Park, TX, and Roel Barrera (Belia) of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St.; with a rosary to be recited at 1:00 PM.  A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 2:00 PM to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice for a 2:30 PM funeral mass. Interment to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
