Erasmo "Mamo" Castillo, passed away on November 28, 2023, at the age of 75. He was born on May 20, 1948, to Merced and Maria Del Pilar Castillo and was a lifelong resident of Agua Dulce, Texas.
Mamo's early life was spent in the tight-knit community of Agua Dulce where he attended the local elementary school and knew everyone. He would sit on his porch and joyfully wave a big hello to all who passed by. He loved fishing and couldn’t wait for an invite to go fishing. He enjoyed walking at least three miles a day down Hwy 70 to the park and then back home.
He worked as a bartender for his friend in Corpus Christi, where he greeted his patrons with his warm smile and convivial spirit. He enjoyed listening to Tejano music and loved to dance. He was also very politically involved and would eagerly look forward to election time, where you would see him at the courthouse or the Berlanga building campaigning for candidates.
Mamo was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed visiting with his beloved niece Elizabeth Perez, who would often come to see him and make sure he was okay, as well as his niece Rosa Maria Soto, who was always attentive to his needs.
Mamo is proceeded in death by his parents, Merced and Maria Del Pilar Castillo; his siblings, Baby Olivia Castillo, Gerardo Castillo, San Juana Borgorje, Maclovio Castillo, Luis Castillo, Maria Criselda Soto, and Tomasita Garcia. He is survived by his brother, Ramiro Castillo; his sisters, Catarina (David) Villarreal and Carolina DeLuna; his niece, Elizabeth Perez who held a special place in his heart, as did Rosa Maria Soto, who was unfailingly attentive to his needs; his best friend and next-door neighbor, Ricky Cepeda; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A special thank you to Veronica Morin, his nurse for eight years who lovingly cared for and spoiled him, always going beyond the call of duty. Mamo will be dearly missed by those who knew him and loved him.
A Memorial Service in honor of Erasmo Castillo will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Agua Dulce Baptist Church located at 1308 Longhorn Dr., Agua Dulce, Texas.
