Humberto P. Gonzalez, a loving and kind-hearted man, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on August 20, 2023, in his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on August 28, 1944, also in Corpus Christi, Humberto was a cherished member of the community, known for his friendly demeanor and easy-going nature.
The son of the late Antonio Gonzalez and Andrea Pena Gonzalez, Humberto was raised alongside his brothers, Homero G. Gonzalez (Elvira) and Antonio Gonzalez Jr. (Rosalba), and his sister, Mary Lou Gonzalez. Humberto is also survived by his son Joe Alex Gonzalez as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Humberto was a true patriot, serving his country with honor and courage during the Vietnam War. He completed one tour in Vietnam, demonstrating bravery and resilience in the face of adversity. Following his military service, Humberto utilized his mechanical skills as a jet mechanic, contributing to the safety and efficiency of air travel. As a man of many talents, Humberto also had a deep love for music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and accordion, often filling his home with joyful melodies. Humberto also lent his voice to the church, singing hymns that touched the hearts of many. His musical talents brought joy and comfort to those around him, reflecting his kind and loving spirit.
Humberto's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and resilience. His sense of humor, easy-going nature, and the love he had for his family and community will be greatly missed. As we mourn the loss of a wonderful man, we also celebrate the life of Humberto P. Gonzalez, who touched the hearts of many and left the world a better place. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Humberto's family will receive condolences on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church at 9:00 AM followed by procession for interment at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00AM.
