Joe Sosa

Jose “Joe” Omar Sosa Jr, age 89, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022. Joe was born on August 4, 1933, to his parents, Jose Omar Sosa Sr and Maria Ramirez. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Joe was a family man whose main goal was to provide for the needs of his family. He always wanted what was best for his children and would go beyond the call of duty to assist and help them with whatever they needed. He especially loved handing out ice cream money to all his great-grandchildren; seeing them happy made him happy.

He had a passion for horses and loved spending time at the family ranch. He enjoyed reading western and horse books. He enjoyed barbecuing for his family and always looked forward to family gatherings at the ranch.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Omar Sosa Sr and Maria Ramirez; son-in- law, Johnny Johnson, and daughter, Velma Sosa Gonzalez.

Joe is survived by his two daughters, Yolanda Moran (Roger Dean) and Mandy Johnson; his sons, Rolando Sosa and Omar Sosa Jr; his sister, Anselma Jimenez and brother, Severino Sosa; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM. Liturgy of the Word will follow at 11:30AM. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home after Liturgy of the Word for Rite of Committal and Interment at Premont Cemetery.
