Johnny McCarty of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on February 21, 2023, at the age of 70. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Johnny was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a true patriot. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Physician Assistant and as a Paratrooper. He also served in the United States Navy as a Physician Assistant where he retired as Lt. Johnny McCarty. He was the Lead Ride Captain for the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas. Johnny was very active in his community; not only as a patriot guard rider, but he also volunteered at the U.S.S. Lexington and was a former Biology teacher at Flour Bluff ISD. He was very knowledgeable in History and enjoyed educating others. Johnny also enjoyed reading about Ancient Roman History and Mythology. Johnny enjoyed riding his motorcycle, making models with his grandson Noah, and teaching his grandson Aiden to play the trumpet. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren Ceanna and Keagan to the Texas State Aquarium. His hobbies were scuba diving, kayaking, archery, and playing the guitar. He loved camping on the beach with his dog. He was truly a wonderful and one of kind patriot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat McCarty, Sr. and Ollie Rae McCarty; twin brother, Joey McCarty; and brother, Pat McCarty.
Left behind to cherish Johnny’s memories are his wife of 28 years, Theresa Ann McCarty, sons, Conor Patrick (Claire) McCarty, Adam Colin (Karlie) McCarty, and Matthew Joseph (Marissa) Prado; grandchildren, Ceanna McCarty, Keagan McCarty, Aiden Prado, and Noah Prado; mother-in-law, Delia Prado; his pet dog, Haley; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara Port Ave.; with a Prayer Service to begin at 12:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:00 PM for Rite of Committal and Interment at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
