Jorge S. Villela Sr., a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Corpus Christi, TX on July 25, 2023. Born on August 26, 1949, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Jorge was a man of immense love, humor, and remarkable handy skills; his legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Jorge is survived by his devoted wife, Juana Villela, and his son, Jorge Villela Jr. (Angie); and daughters, Marisa Rangel (Jose) and Martha Perez. He was a proud grandparent to Elizabeth Villela, Brittany Castillo (Ashley), George Villela, Joshua Villela, Michael Hernandez, Kristella Rangel, Krista Rangel, Katia Rangel, Kianna Rangel, Gabby Perez, Becky Perez, and Julian Perez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amada and Santos Villela, along with three brothers, and one sister.
Jorge was a skilled carpenter for 40 years, a profession he held dear to his heart. He had a unique ability to create and fix, a trait that was not only central to his work but also his life. Jorge's dedication led him to Nebraska, where he built houses for two months, leaving a lasting legacy of his craftsmanship. His commitment to his work was only surpassed by his dedication to his family, who will remember him for his loving nature, his handy skills, and his great sense of humor.
Traveling was one of Jorge's passions. He loved exploring new places and cultures, always returning home with exciting stories and valuable life lessons. He was also a regular at Alteños Mexican Restaurant, where he enjoyed breakfast and lunch. His commitment to his family and his love for life were reflected in his everyday activities, from taking his grandchildren on adventures to just being there for his family when they needed him.
Jorge was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He was an avid dog lover, and his pets, Rocky and Zeus, were like family to him. His love for animals mirrored his overall loving and compassionate nature. His laughter was infectious, his kindness unmatched, and his love for his family unending.
Jorge's role as a grandpa was one he treasured. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them about life, and sharing his wisdom. His grandchildren will fondly remember their grandpa as a man full of love, laughter, and a zest for life.
Jorge S. Villela Sr. was a man who lived his life with passion and purpose. He was a beacon of light to his family, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity to know him. His love, humor, and handy skills will forever be remembered. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
As we mourn the loss of Jorge, we also celebrate a life well lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Jorge S. Villela Sr. will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
Jorge’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church at 10:00 AM followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
