Joseph (Joe) Carroll Boland of Corpus Christi went to be with our Lord Sunday, March 14, 2021.

Joe was born February 20, 1932 to Joseph and Elva Irene Boland, in Corpus Christi TX. Joe graduated from Sundeen High School and went out to meet the world. He worked for AT&T and Southwestern Bell Telephone as an equipment installer. He took up boxing and fought in the featherweight division and attained Golden Glove Status. Joe continued boxing in the Military and traveled to many foreign countries.

He married Susan Prytz on May 3, 1973 and they made a home in Corpus Christi. Joe served 3 tours in Vietnam and returned to Corpus Christi after each tour. His last military assignment was at Fort Devens Army Base in Massachusetts, where he retired in 1975, with 25 years total military service.

After retiring from the Army, Joe moved his family back to Corpus Christi where he worked for, E&P Trucking, TRW, and several small companies until he gained Civil Service employment at the United States Naval Air Station. Joe loved his job at the base and worked there for 30 years; he was a Special tech and traveled to El Salvador and several other countries training others on how to retrieve data from the instrument panels on the Helicopters.

He enjoyed reading books, westerns preferably, fishing with Susan, playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys play, drinking a cold beer, and playing poker with the other men in the neighborhood on Saturday night.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Prytz Boland, and his parents, Joseph Edmond and Elva Irene Boland, of Corpus Christi, TX.

Survivors include his sons, Paul Boland (Maryann) of Wesley Chapel, FL, Joel Boland (Robin) of Waycross, GA, Shawn Boland (Rebecca) of Stone Mountain, GA, Jeff Shannon Boland (Donna) of Leland, NC, Joseph Smith (Sherry) of Eddy, TX; daughters, Ruth Ann Boland Lee of Corpus Christi, TX and Cathy Byrd (Rick) of Eddy, TX; a brother, William (Bill) Norris Boland (Sandra); a sister, Nan Panettiere (Dominic) of Saylorsburg, PA; 11 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, and 25 great- grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive condolences at the graveside service at Seaside Memorial Park on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 1:00 PM with full military honors.
