Juan Manuel Estrada passed away peacefully in Alice, Texas while surrounded by family in his home on October 27, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1954, to his parents, Gabriel and Paula Estrada in Alice, Texas. Juan will be truly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Raised in Alice, Juan attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Alice Independent School District and graduated from Alice High School. He was a lifelong learner and a proud alumnus. His professional life was dedicated to being a Diesel Mechanic for B&J Air Pump for 29 years, where he was known as a faithful and hardworking employee. Juan also served in the U.S. Army Armed Forces as a Specialist Power Equipment Operator and a Mechanic, roles he carried out with diligence and pride.
Juan had a variety of interests that brought him joy and kept him busy. He loved working on puzzles, playing video games, and watching wrestling matches on television. He also enjoyed playing slot machines on the computer, going to the dog races, visiting casinos, and watching his Cowboys play football; but above all, spending time with his family was most important to him. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as an Alter Server and also received all his holy sacraments.
Juan lived his life with an open heart, generously ready to help anyone in need. He was known for his joyful spirit and laughter that made other people laugh. His bravery and courage when faced with illness brought faith and courage to all his family.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Paula Estrada Sr.; his brother, Gilberto Estrada; his sister, Lydia Del Bosque; his brothers-in-law, Luis Garza and Valentin Del Bosque; and his sister-in-law, Dora Estrada.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 40 years, Lucinda "Lucy" Estrada; his brothers Ignacio (Corina) Estrada, Gabriel (Lupita) Estrada, and Augustin Estrada Sr.; his sister, Paula "Beve" Garza; his mother-in-law, Viola Arreguin; his brother-in-law, Roman (Becky) Aguilar; his sister-in-law, Elva Estrada; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The memory of Juan Manuel Estrada will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and he will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who had the good fortune to cross paths with him. As we mourn the loss of Juan, we also celebrate his life and the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives. His spirit will forever be a part of the Alice community, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Juan’s family will receive condolences on Monday October 30, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday October 31, 2023, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Old Collins Cemetery.
Honoring Juan as pallbearers are Ruben Estrada, Gilbert Estrada, Augustin Estrada Jr., Mark Estrada, Gabriel Estrada III, and Eric Estrada. Honorary pallbearers are Patsy Atkins, Ashley Estrada, and Michelle Soliz.
