Juan Jose Hinojosa

Juan Jose Hinojosa, born December 11, 1951 in Alice, TX to Angel and Josefa V. Hinojosa, passed away on July 8, 2018 at the age of 66. He proudly served as a soldier in the U. S. Army, was a retired police officer from the Alice Police Department, and also worked as a longtime dispatcher for the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Houston Astros fan. Juan loved to gamble, whether he was scratching off lotto tickets or playing the slot machines, these were the activities that made him happy.

Juan is preceded in death by his father, Angel “Lito” Hinojosa, Sr. and brother, Angel Hinojosa, Jr.

Survivors left to cherish his memories are his mother, Josefa V. Hinojosa; sisters, Maria Shipp, Elma Garcia (Luis), Lesvia Garza (Leroy), Daisy Castillo (Richard), and Sandra Cruz (Danny); and one sister-in-law, Louisa Hinojosa.

Juan is also survived by wonderful, numerous nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Michael “Mikey” Paiz, Danny Cruz, Jr., Johnny Lara, J.R. Lara, Luis Daniel Saenz, Jr., and Luis Daniel Saenz III. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mark Daniel Garcia.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., from 5 to 9 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at New Collins Cemetery.
