Leonel A. Soliz was born on October 14, 1939, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Eugenio and Teresa. He was called to rest on January 22, 2023, at the age of 83.
Leonel proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962 while stationed in South Korea. He retired from over 25 years of diligent service with ASARCO as a skilled millwright worker. Leonel was a family man who enjoyed his time barbecuing, perfecting his craft in woodwork, and hunting. He was also a fisherman at heart who avidly cheered on his favorite teams, the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Romana Herrera Soliz; parents, Eugenio and Teresa Soliz; brothers, Emilio Soliz, Luis Rodolfo Soliz, and Eugenio Soliz Jr; and sisters, Elida Benavides, Matilde Martinez, Esmeralda De Bosque, Maria Lydia Benavides, and Evangelina Torres.
Leonel is survived by his son, Dino Soliz (Lisa); daughter, Velma Haris (Shay); brother, Salvador Soliz (Viola); grandchildren, Krystal Soliz, Desiree Lazo, Leon Austin Soliz, Samreen Haris, Nadia Haris, Kamran Haris; and great- grandson, Adam Lazo.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara Port Ave; with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM for a Mass to be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1302 Lantana St, Corpus Christi, TX 78407, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Premont Cemetery.
