Maria Perez Obituary

Maria Josefa Perez, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, at the age of 74 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on April 2, 1949, in the close-knit community of Benavides, Texas, Maria's life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and unwavering compassion.

Maria was the cherished daughter of the late Eva and Luis Garcia and grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, Frances Davila, Eva Hinojosa, Juan Garcia, Lucio Garcia, and Luis Garcia, who all preceded her in death. The family bonds forged in her early years laid the foundation for the incredible person she would become. She is survived by her two sisters, Paula Perez and Gloria Sanchez.

A devoted partner in life and love, Maria is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jose Perez Jr. Together, they built a life filled with joy, support, and mutual respect. Their enduring partnership was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them. Maria's legacy continues through her beloved children, Cynthia Ann Perez (Mark), Jose Luis Perez, and Mark Anthony Perez (Tanya), who were the center of her world. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, guiding her children with a gentle hand and an open heart.

Maria's love multiplied with the arrival of each of her 12 grandchildren and further blossomed with the birth of her 4 great-grandchildren. Known affectionately as "wella, grandma, and wea" she embraced every moment with her grandchildren, imparting wisdom, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Maria's impact extended beyond the walls of her home and into the community through her work alongside her husband at the trade center. Her dedication and hard work were matched only by her selflessness and the joy she took in connecting with people from all walks of life. Maria's unforgettable smile and laugh were a source of comfort and happiness to many, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to cross her path.

An ardent fan of Elvis and the Dallas Cowboys, Maria found great pleasure in the simple things in life. Watching novelas was a cherished pastime, as was working at garage sales, where she shared her keen eye for treasures and bargains with friends and neighbors alike. But nothing compared to the time she spent with her grandchildren, where her love and attention shone brightest.

Maria's character can best be described as loving, kind, and selfless. She approached every day with a heart full of generosity, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her unwavering support and empathy were the cornerstones of her relationships, making her a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew her.

As we bid farewell to Maria Josefa Perez, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a spirit that will continue to inspire. Her warmth, her kindness, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed, yet her influence will live on through the countless lives she touched. Maria's story is one of love, family, and the enduring power of a life well-lived. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave during her time with us.
