Maria Luisa “Mary Lou” Perez passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 20, 2021, at the age of 71. She was a loyal and dedicated wife to the love of her life, Macario Perez. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all whom knew and loved her.
Mary Lou graduated from William Adams High School. She loved to listen to music and go dancing. She was always busy doing something; such as, cooking, baking, crocheting, and doing work puzzles. She really enjoyed the times spent with family and friends playing card, and going to gamble at the slot machines or maquinitas. She was always very generous and ready to help anyone in need with compassion, kindness, and love.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Encarnacion Contreras; a brother, Manuel Contreras; a sister, Maria DeLaLuz Chavarria; brother-in-law, Oscar Chavarria; and her aunt who was like a mother, Elvira Perez.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Macario Perez Sr.; a son Macario (Melissa) Perez Jr.; daughters, Rachel (Juan) Liquez and Roxanne (Xavier) Cabrera; sisters, Maria Idolina Nino, Maria Elena (Chon) Gonzalez, Maria Elia (Santos) Alaniz, and San Juanita (Luis) Garza; grandchildren, Jeff Molina Jr., Kayla (Ivan) Molina, Melanie (Armando) Liquez, Kendall Liquez, Mason Perez, Amelia Saenz, Lorenzo “LJ” Cabrera, and Estevan Cabrera; great-grandchildren, Aria Brielle Cuellar and Zayd Christina Fraire; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., Alice, Texas; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass will follow and will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 12:00 PM. Services will conclude with Rite of Committal and Interment at Alice Cemetery.
Honoring Maria Luisa as pallbearers will be Jeff Molina, Lorenzo “LJ” Cabrera, Estevan Cabrera, Mason Perez, Rolando “BJ” Benavides Jr, and Michelle Cabrera
Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
