Maria Magdalena Partington Obituary

The world has lost a gentle soul, Maria Magdalena Valenzuela Partington was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 99. She passed peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday July 8, 2021, of natural causes. Marie was born on December 6, 1921 in Gonzales County Texas to Melquiades Valenzuela and Catarina Leal.

Among many accomplishments in life her family is most proud of her time serving in the armed forces, beginning at the age of 30. She served in Osaka, Japan with the 8169th Medical Group. It was in Osaka, Japan where she met the love of her life, Wyman Partington, while they were both on duty; they then later married and settled in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman Partington; mother and father; and four sisters.

Maria is survived by her son, Michael Wyman (Janie) Partington; daughter, Hazel Marie (Dan) McCarthy; grandchildren (8); great-grandchildren (10); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 PM.  Rite of Committal and Interment with full military honors will be held Monday, July 26, 2021, at 2:30 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank The Gardens of Castle Hills for the love and generosity during her stay.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
