Ninfa Garcia Colunga, 88, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 29, 1932 to Jacobo Garza Garcia and Trinidad Villarreal Garcia in Clareville, TX, Bee County, Rancho Colorado, named for the red houses; the Ranch was a community of farmers. Ninfa was married to Juan Colunga on January 16, 1950 until his passing on June 8, 2015. She was a great cook and loved sewing. She loved her family even more. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
No one will ever replace her smile, her hugs, her encouraging words, and her kind heart. We will always appreciate all you have been to us. We thank you for being the exceptional woman that you were. You will forever live in our hearts and our wonderful memories. We will forever miss you.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Colunga; son, Jose Alfredo Colunga; parents, Jacobo G. Garcia and Trinidad V. Garcia; and several brothers and sisters she loved and mentioned often.
Ninfa is survived by her sons, Juan (Janie) Colunga III, Joe Colunga, Albert (Linda) Colunga, Angel (Belinda Gonzalez) Colunga; daughters, Bonnie Colunga, Elida (Lee) Cortez, Esmeralda Colunga, Yolanda Colunga, Aida Colunga, Norma (Adrian) Martinez, Melissa (Brandon) Jones, and Corina C. (Frank) Martinez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Trinidad Garcia and Rosa Garcia; brothers, Ruben Garcia, Valdamar Garcia, and Raphael Garcia; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM; with a rosary and funeral liturgy to begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Facial masks must be worn and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
