Odilia DeLosSantos-Perez passed away on March 15, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born to Horacio and Olivia DeLosSantos in Benavides, Texas and was also known as Odie, Ama, Mamacita, Grandma and Tia. She was a wonderful and loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great-grandmother and helped raise and care for her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Odilia was a woman of faith and made sure her children learned the life values of hard work, honesty, respect, and family unity. She worked for Real for many years as a cook. She was well known for her delicious fruit cake, pan de polvo, cakes, cookies, and tamales; and let us not forget our favorite, homemade meals with homemade tortillas. One of Odilia’s favorite trips was the family annual tradition of going camping at Gardner State Park; especially since this was her time to rest from all the housework, ironing, cooking, and cleaning. She and her husband loved to go dancing and listen to music. They would tell each other whoever goes first, make sure and save me “Un rinconcito en el cielo”.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 26 years, Jose Perez; parents, Horacio and Olivia DeLosSantos; her son, Anatolio Perez; baby daughter, Olivia Perez; sisters, Omedie (Donato) Cantu, Alejandra (Doroteo) Gonzalez, and Martha Segura; brother, Mario Segura; great-great-great grandson, Enrique Lichtenberger; son-in-law, David Puentes; and brother-in-law, Roberto Saldivar.
Left behind to cherish Odilia’s memories are her daughter, Diana Lichtenberger-Puentes; sons, Jose Luis (Belinda) Perez, Rene (Audie) Perez, and Jesse (Evelyn) Perez; sister, Ofelia Saldivar; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Perez; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
