Raymond Rivera Obituary

Raymond Rivera was called by the Lord on Monday, August 30, 2021. He lost his battle with the virus, since it was just too strong for a 92 year old man to fight. Raymond was born in Corpus Christi and lived there all of his life; retiring from the Corpus Christi Independent School District. He loved many things like family gatherings, music, Chihuahuas, joking around, gambling, traveling, boxing, Westerns, and his favorite team, the ASTROS.

He and his late wife of 37 years, Teresa, traveled together to places like Germany, Spain, California, New Mexico, Florida, Louisiana, and Mexico. Raymond once shared a conversation that he had with Teresa, Teresa: “Ramon, parece que estamos perdidos.” Raymond: “puede ser que tu estas perdida, pero yo me estoy paseando!” Raymond was an expert when it came to identifying bad calls by referees during baseball and football games. Amazingly, his mind was still intact at 92 and he could describe different plays that caused a team to lose or win. His pastime passions were watching the Astros and the Cowboys play.

Raymond was loved by all those he touched. Surviving are his son, David Pena of San Antonio; his daughter, Diana Mendez of Corpus Christi; his daughter, Dalia Ramirez of San Antonio; two sisters, Aurora and Eloisa both of Corpus Christi; one brother, Tony Rivera, Sr. of Corpus Christi; and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Viewing for the public at Trevino Funeral Home is scheduled for Sunday, September 12, 2021, from 5:00-9:00 p.m.; with the Rosary being recited and live streamed starting at 6:00 (Facebook live). On Monday, September 13, 2021, Trevino Funeral Home opens at 8:00 a.m.; leaving at 9:00 to Christ the King Catholic Church for Mass at 9:30. Entombment follows at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
