Richard Oziel Ramos, fondly known as "Pumba" by those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023. Born on May 10, 1978, in Alice, Texas. Richard's life was characterized by his creativity, generosity, and genuine love.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Cynthia Ann Ramos, his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Elma Martinez, and his paternal grandparents, Nicholas and Jesusa Ramos. He is survived by his companion, Lucia Gonzalez, by his daughters, Allison Caitlin Ramos, Angel Ramos, Amaris Ramos, Abigail Hughes, Latisha Lopez, and a son, Alexander Ramirez, a grandchild, Luca Cardona, his sister, Tiffany Ramos, his brother, Ruben Ray (Melinda) Ramos, the mother of his daughters, Virginia Anguiano, his beloved pet dogs, Massive and Kelly, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Richard Ramos was a man who lived his life to the fullest, always singing his favorite Spanish songs. Richard’s unconditional love and care for his family was his number one priority. He was generous with his time and talents, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, from raising children who were not his own, to ensuring every family member was well taken care of. His creativity was not just in his crafts, but also in the way he lived his life and the love he has for everyone close to him.
His creativity extended beyond music, with a passion for woodwork and designing his own unique artwork. A man of many talents, Richard also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, gambling, and listening to music that reminded him of his beloved mother. He was a master at the grill, often found BBQing for his family. These times were the highlight of his life, as nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his children, family, and close friends. His laughter and zest for life made these occasions special, and his absence will be deeply felt by many.
In remembering Richard, we celebrate a life of a man who was deeply loved, and a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him especially his children. His spirit, his creativity, his generosity, and his love will forever be remembered and cherished. Rest in peace, Richard 'Pumba' Ramos, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Richard’s family will receive condolences on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., with Prayer Service to begin at 7:00PM. A Chapel Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2023; followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at Roberson-Collins Cemetery.
