Rolando Hernandez, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on April 30, 1957, in Mathis, Texas, to Maria and Ramiro Hernandez, Rolando was a beacon of love, selflessness, and passion.
Rolando was a proud alumnus of Moody High School. His thirst for knowledge was evident in his love for teaching and his active involvement in the children's classes at Victory Life Fellowship Church, where he was a proud member. His passion for education was only surpassed by his love for his family and his faith.
He was a man of many talents, but his skill with the guitar was one that stood out. Rolando was a staple in the church band, often serenading the congregation with his soulful melodies. His music was a testament to his passion and love for his community. Rolando was also an avid listener of Radio Libertad in the city, often asking for prayers for his family and friends on air, demonstrating his unwavering faith and love for those around him.
Rolando never had children of his own, but his love for his nieces and nephews was immeasurable. He was a proud uncle to Roel Hernandez Jr.(Esthela), Kimberly Lara, Ricardo Adame(JoAnna), and Leslie Garza. Rolando's love extended to his great-nieces and nephews, Roel Hernandez III, Neri Palacio, R.J. Adame, Adrian Gomez, and Reynaldo Rodriguez. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his selfless nature was a testament to his character.
Rolando was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Gutierrez and Ramiro Hernandez. He is survived by his siblings, Noemi Garza and Roel Hernandez, who will forever cherish his memory. His nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews will remember him as a loving and dedicated uncle who was always ready to help and guide them.
Rolando's life was a testament to his character. He was a man who lived his life with passion, love, and selflessness. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he left behind, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Rolando’s Family will receive condolences on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 9:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St at Port Ave; with a Chapel Service to be held at 1:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 2:00 PM for a Rite of Committal and Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
