Santiago T. Hernandez, better known as “Chago”, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. He was born in Bishop, Texas on September 2, 1944, to his parents, Alfredo and Prisciliana Hernandez. He was a wonderful, caring, and loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Chago worked for the State of Texas doing road construction. He was a man who celebrated life with joy and happiness. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends while drinking a nice cold beer and barbequing. Dancing and music were some of his pastime activities. He had a strong faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he faithfully attended mass. He was always ready to assist or help anyone in need; but most of all he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Prisciliana Hernandez; brothers, Alfredo Hernandez Jr., Erasmo Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, and Ruben Hernandez; sister-in-law, Susana Hernandez; and brother-in-Law, Margarito Garcia Sr.
Left to cherish his memories are his sister, Carolina H. Garcia, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mathis, TX. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow at Eterno Descanso II Cemetery, Mathis, TX.
