Sylvia Castillo Obituary

Sylvia Lozano Castillo passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at the age of 57. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan to her parents, Monico and Rosana Lozano. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sylvia also known as Mom and Grammy, was loving, caring, hardworking, and generous. She was a protective mother who was always ready to provide and assist anyone in need. She loved to cook and was well known for making the best menudo and barbacoa de cabeza. She enjoyed music, loved dancing, and playing loteria. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving as she looked forward to cooking and baking and then sharing the meal with her family and friends rejoicing, laughing, and joking, and just relaxing surrounded by those she loved. Sylvia taught and encouraged her children to work hard, to be honest, to be respectful, and most of all, to be independent. She instilled and encouraged them to always be united as a loving family, to have faith, and to trust in God and to never give up.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Castillo Sr; her parents, Monico and Rosana Lozano; her brother, Ray Lozano; and her sister, Mary Lozano.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Sylvia Castillo (Jimmy Hernandez), Sarah (Tommy) Monsevias, Carlos Castillo Jr, Alex Lozano, and Jose Carlos Castillo; sisters, Margret (Ruben) Trevino, Gloria (Benji) Barrera, Esmeralda Barrientes, and Lora (Eddie) Contreras; brothers, Rocky Lozano and Rene Lozano; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Garza; eight (8) grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Honoring Sylvia as pallbearers are Eddie Munoz, Heriberto Contreras Sr., Jimmy Hernandez, Tommy Monsevias, Heriberto Contreras Jr., and Dylan Dereese. Honorary pallbearers are Ricardo Molina III and Benji Barrera.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday April 27, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., Alice, Texas, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 1:00 PM.
