Sylvia Moreno Obituary

Sylvia Cavazos Moreno was called to eternal life on December 11, 2023, at the age of 72, in Victoria, Texas. She was born on May 14, 1951, in Alice, Texas, to her parents, Adan and Otilia Cavazos. Sylvia was a beacon of joy and thoughtfulness in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Sylvia's education took place in the Agua Dulce Independent School District, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen her sophomore year. She retired from the City of Alice Community Action Day Care where she poured her heart into those entrusted in her care with kindness, compassion, and love.

Sylvia's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She had a unique love for shopping; particularly for items adorned with a cheetah print, which reflected her bold and lively nature. Her hobbies included working on Word Search Puzzles, listening to music, and dancing – activities that brought her immense joy and allowed her to connect with others. Sylvia's enthusiasm for car shows was evident, especially her admiration for a 2011 red Corvette.

Above all, Sylvia's favorite pastime was spending time with the lights of her life, her precious grandchildren and her family. She was the heart of every celebration, often found laughing, joking, and embracing the company of her loved ones. Her presence was a gift, and the memories she created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of her family and friends.

Sylvia was proceeded in death by her parents, Adan G. and Otilia Cavazos, and her brother-in-law, George Guerra.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of four years, Gilbert J. Moreno; her daughters, Tarah Brown and Brittney May (Zachary) Scoggins; step-children, Hope Moreno, Dennis Lee (Cindy) Moreno, and Eddie Dean (Cynthia) Moreno; grandson, Ezekiel Nikolas Parker Scoggins; granddaughter, Talitha Sylvia May Scoggins; sisters, Velma Guerra, Irma (Sam) Smithwick, Nelda (Jesse) Herrera, Elda (Jaime) Gonzales; brother, Carlos J. (Estella) Cavazos; along with numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She will be truly missed by all her family and friends.

Sylvia’s family will receive condolences on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., with Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 AM.
