Virginia Carole Whitney was called home by our Heavenly Father on July 22, 2023. Born on December 14, 1933, in West, Texas. Virginia was a woman whose life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and family.
Virginia was a proud graduate of Aransas Pass High School, Del Mar College with an AA and Texas A&M Corpus Christi with a BBA. Her academic achievements were a source of great pride.
Virginia's professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to service. She worked for 39 years at the City of Corpus Christi Fire Department as an Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief. Virginia volunteered at the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, numerous church committees at St. Luke's United Methodist and First United Methodist Church, where her love for the Lord was evident in all she did. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Pi Sorority, devoted member of the First United Methodist Church and New Dimension Sunday School Class.
Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Acie Kimbrell, sisters Carmalita Giles and Annette Adams, daughter, Dianna Esquivel, and son, Stephen Whitney. She is survived by her brother, Bobbie Kimbrell, sister, Jeanette Jones, daughters, Liz Craft (Johnny) and Kimberley Neely and daughter in law Anna Whitney. Grandchildren Carol Buell, Michelle Avery, John Craft II (Lori), Nicole Suttle (Sean), Danielle Pena, Kyla Neely and Stephen Whitney, Jr. Great-grandchildren Khristin, Alayna, Savannah, Hunter, Heath, Daphne, Phoebe, Lorenzo and Zane.
Virginia (known as Jenny by family), a woman of faith, has returned to the arms of our Lord. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
A Memorial Service honoring Virginia will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 900 Shoreline Dr., Corpus Christi, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aransas Pass High School Alumini Assoc or First United Methodist Church. Condolences for Virginia’s family may be left at www.trevinofuneralhome.net.
